“When you sign on as one of our monsters, it’s your chance to get people jumping 2 feet in the air and screaming themselves silly,” explains Peter Chichester, Maximum Terror’s creative director. “That’s why volunteering is such a great time. Friends and family who come together have a terrific shared experience. We’ve even had fathers and sons in the same scene, surprising each other.”

If you love a good scream, you won’t want to miss these 13 nights of fright and fun. The show runs Oct. 5 through 28, Fridays and Saturdays from 7 to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 6 to 9:30 p.m., with a bonus show on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 6 to 9:30 p.m. (Actors may need to stay an hour or more past the time of last ticket sale.) Maximum Terror’s Haunted Adventure is supported by media sponsors News 12 Connecticut and 95.9 The Fox/96.7 The Coast.

This year’s haunted adventure will be held on the museum and nature center’s meadow where visitors will be escorted (and then abandoned) into a “zombie containment center” which has become overrun with the ravenous undead. It’s a full-sensory scream-a-thon designed to get visitors blood racing and spines tingling.

Tickets are $15. Bring a can of food to donate to the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County and get $1 off admission on Fridays and Saturdays and $2 off on Sundays. (One discount per ticket.) VIP Speed Passes which take you to the front of the line are available at the ticket booth for $25 each. The haunted adventure is not appropriate for children under 10.
